Events

At the end of 2014, Vox Product held its first event, a panel on shipping products. Since then, the product team has planned many other events, from design battles to code workshops, and has participated in community events. Many people on the product team make these events and partnerships happen and below are events that I've helped plan.

 
 

Communicate 2025

Vox Product, Spotify Design, and Hyper Island hosted a one-day workshop with teens from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club to invent the future of communication. Approximately 36 teenagers and 36 professionals working in product design arrived at Spotify’s NYC headquarters for a day of brainstorming, learning, and creating.

Pixel Punch 2.0

We invited five designers, four judges, and over 130 people from the DC tech community to our second design battle, Pixel Punch. In 2014, we asked designers to compete in challenges based on stopping an asteroid from hitting Earth. In 2015, we went with something even spookier: a dinner party at a haunted mansion.

#LetsTalkCulture Panel

We hosted a panel series in DC and New York on the topic of culture. “Let’s Talk Culture” included panelists from companies like BuzzFeed and Viget with backgrounds in design, management, journalism, and HR. The discussion focused on creating and maintaining a healthy, diverse, and productive company culture.

Let’s Talk Shippin’ Panel

All Aboard: A Discussion on Shipping Digital Products was Vox Media’s first product-focused event. We invited designers, developers, and managers from various DC-based companies to come discuss their teams, processes, and how they celebrate.
